Audience Research questions

Do you watch documentaries?

Would you be interested in watching a documentary about undiscovered bands in Barnsley?

What types of things would you be interested in seeing on that documentary?

What time would you want to watch the documentary?

What types of documentaries do you usually watch?

Poster Idea

The idea that I have for out poster is a collage of lots of different 15-25 year old people playing instruments or singing. Each person will have their own picture in the college, with a different coloured background. In the middle of the collage will be the documentaries logo and the information about when it’s on TV and what channel etc.

I drew a quick draft on photo shop elements just to show what it will look like.
Depending on how big the pictures are there may be more or less than there is here.
The lines on the poster represent where the logo and info would go.

Poster Research

I’ve collected a couple of different posters which are for documentaries which are similar to ours. By looking at these we can see what people expect from a ‘rock music’ related poster.
All these posters are unique in their own way but there are subtle similarities in them all which let the audience know what genre they’re from. For example on both the Rush poster and the U2 poster there are massive crowds of people, fans. These two posters seem to be set in a stadium, which is another thing related to music. All the posters include pictures of the band, which I think is very important because it just makes the poster a lot more personal and a lot more fun to look at. All the posters are quite dark in colour, which I’m not sure is that good of an idea for our poster, because our audience is mostly teenagers, and brighter colours would be more appealing to that age group. My favourite part about any of the posters is the small collage section of the Rush poster, I think this is an effect I’d like to add into our poster.
