Film Documentaries

Although our documentary is for television I think it would be helpful to note what kind of features you'd find in a film documentaries, for this I watched the film documentary 'Super Size Me', directed by Morgan Spurlock.

The documentary follows Morgan Spurlock as he tries to discover what would happen if someone ate McDonalds everyday for every meal for 30 days.

Facts
The main features of the documentary are facts and figures, there are A LOT, but when watching the film the facts aren't boring. They use cartoon characters as one fun way to get the facts across.

Interviews
In the documentary there are many interviews with food specialists, people from the food industry, people in the street, people who work at McDonalds and even the staff at schools. This gives the documentary a lot of different opinions.

Voice overs
The documentary doesn't have much of a voice over as the 'presenter' is the main character. The film does have Morgan Spurlock as a voice over when needed, for example when narrating the factual cartoons.

Music
The documentary involves various scenes with music to them, these songs keep with the McDonalds theme. They also make the documentary more enjoyable and fun.
