Treatment for full documentary

Title: Barnsley Rocks!
The reason this is called Barnsley Rocks! is because in this episode, a Barnsley band will feature.
The title of the documentary will vary from week to week, depending on where we are in the Yorkshire region. In future episodes, we would be looking at bands from other parts of Yorkshire, for example Huddersfield, Sheffield, so the title would be Huddersfield Rocks!, Sheffield Rocks!

Target audience: Males and females aged 14+, who are interested in music, and perhaps are even fans of the bands. Seeing as the documentary is focusing on Barnsley bands this particular week, it’s likely that the audience from Barnsley would be larger than an audience from York, so depending where the documentary is in a particular week, it will affect which people will be interested. As the documentary is only focusing on bands from Yorkshire, it will always be aimed at Yorkshire people, and they’ll probably enjoy watching it more than people from Cumbria.



Length of documentary: The length of the documentary will be 5 minutes.


Time slot: during the 9pm ad breaks, Thursdays
The reason for the 9pm time slot is because of who our target audience is. 9pm is the watershed and there may be taboo language included. We will show this during the adverts as a short documentary.

Channel: 4
Channel 4 is the best channel for our documentary to be shown on as it is largely music based. There have been programmes such as Orange Unsigned Act and Channel 4 Music on Channel 4. Most recently, chart-topping act N-Dubz had their own programme, Being N-Dubz screened on Channel 4, which is what our documentary is loosely based on.

Outline of documentary: introducing a new rock band every week, starting with the Barnsley band 'Bleed The Light.' The documentary will show footage of them playing, with exerpts from interviews. The end minute of the film will introduce the audience to the next band to feature in the documentry, Colorado Skies. The footage will be shot on location at a studio.

Suggested elements:
Presenter/Narration/Voiceover: Barnsley Rocks! will not feauture a presenter. Instead, we will use a male voiceover to narrate and ask the band questions when it comes to the interviews. When narrating, the voiceover will not be narrating what the audience can already see, but he will add extra background information.
